So how’s everybody’s 2025 going? Mine is, um, uh. . . well, nothing in my direct vicinity is on fire yet, so that’s good. Needless too say, I’ve been doing a lot of comfort consuming over the past 2 months. Comfort watching, comfort listening, comfort reading, just trying to find some things that won’t hurt me.
Comfort media is an odd thing. There’s rarely any rhyme or reason for it; it’s just that this is the thing you bonded with and it now provides immense comfort, even when it logically would not. AC/DC should not provide me with emotional stability and a sense of safety, but it’s all my dad has ever listened to, so here I am. But that’s not my only source of comfort music.
K-pop has plenty of songs that I turn to when I want to curl up and cry. Some I have nostalgic fondness for, some just hit my brain just right, but all that help me when dealing with the dumpster fire that is the world.
