For Your Viewing Pleasure: (Hair) Stylin’

Welcome back to another instalment of For Your Viewing Pleasure, where we take time out of the week to curate a set of photos from the K-pop landscape.

Never underestimate the power of hair styling. As these stars show, a hairstyle can affect the feeling portrayed in a photo. Haerin from NewJeans is a stunning picture of freshness in her Elle shoot with her rosy cheeks and more natural makeup. Yet, Haerin’s hairstyle brings something extra to the portrait: her dark strands are styled framing her ears instead of being tucked behind them. The result is a classic portrait with an elegant yet cheeky twist.

In other photoshoots, the hair is pulled off the face — like Soyeon from (G)I-dle — to add to the image of fierceness. For other stars and their editorial concepts, lightly tousled locks and strands curling around their faces are preferred, like in photos of Lee Guk-joo, the Huening siblings, and Lee Young-ae.
