Welcome back to another instalment of For Your Viewing Pleasure, where we take time out of the week to curate a set of photos from the K-pop landscape.
The direction of the lens defines the intention of a photo, and how its subject is illustrated. But this is also a two-way connection, and how the star of a shot looks back at the camera completes the story shaped in each scene. Sooyoung stares straight down the lens, the sureness of her gaze echoing the simplicity of her style. Meanwhile, Taehyun of TXT is seen in profile, caught between the camera and a shaft of light. As the members of NMIXX mirror the quirky framing of their set by turning to look at each other, we view actress Chae Soo-bin and Shinee’s Minho via two sets of frames in an array of Polaroid pictures. A special mention must go to Eunchae and Sakura of Le Sserafim and the way their shoot with Allure playfully turns our perspective upside down. Flick through these photos to find your favourite frame.
